EKFS Medical Scientist Program

“Genomic responses to disease plasticity”

The Medical Scientist College comprises the newly-founded Medical Scientist Program “Genomic responses to disease plasticity” funded by the Else-Kröner-Fresenius Stiftung. This program is meant to promote scientific excellence in clinically-oriented biomedical research by early-phase postdocs and foster their integration into contemporary clinical research in both local and international contexts.
We envisage supporting potential breakthrough projects from selected fellows for 36 months, with the possibility of extension following external review. Ultimately, the program aspires to render fellows competitive for acquiring third-party funding and independent research positions.

Our Medical Scientist program offers:

  • A vibrant, multidisciplinary and internationally-visible research environment
  • Tailored introduction to their clinical discipline of choice
  • Participation in on-campus mentoring and training programs
  • Integration into ongoing research consortia and structures
  • Generous support for projects costs, as well as for traveling and scientific networking
