Big science leads to BigNeuron

One of the big obstacles in neuroscience is the overwhelming complexity of neuronal arbors that so far withstood from all attempts to get reconstructed in an observer-independent manner.

However, with the latest advances in neuronal labeling, high-resolution imaging and computer power increase, at least semi-automated procedures become better and better. In this Nature Methods paper, we provided some “ground truth” reconstructions done by Alvar Prönneke at that time, which was used to benchmark software mainly developed by Hanchuan Peng’s lab.
