Postdoc or Doctoral Candidate (m/f/d) for an Interdisciplinary Research Project

Your responsibilities will include contributing to a DFG-funded project on reward and avoidance learning in patients with anorexia and social anxiety disorder, as well as assisting with other thematically linked local, national, and international collaborative projects of our lab.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within the DFG priority program ViCom (https://vicom.info). Our subproject deals with technical possibilities for the multimodal assessment of dyadic communication in typically developed children and children with developmental disorders and difficulties in social interaction.
  • Manage the technical implementation of multimodal recording and analysis methods (including dual mobile eye tracking, physiological measurement methods, facial expression analysis, motion capture, and video-based interaction observation)
  • oversee recruitment process, data collection and data management
  • Implement data analysis workflows, including machine learning methods
  • Publication of the project results
  • Assist in coordinating and contributing to other thematically aligned local, national, and international collaborative projects of our lab.


Your Profile

  • Completed or nearly completed PhD (or equivalent) with a focus in the area of social interaction processes or social communication (from a psychological, medical, data science, behavioral science and/or linguistic perspective), or methodological focus / solid expertise in one of the methods used in the project
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken, at least basic knowledge of the German language
  • Experience with or strong interest in analysis methods / data science / machine learning / scientific coding
  • Ideally, solid knowledge in Python and/or R, version management with git, frameworks for machine learning and modeling (e.g., pytorch, scikit-learn, tidymodels).
  • Passionate about independent scientific work and publishing internationally
  • Excellent communication skills, team spirit, and social competence, willingness to collaborate in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment
  • Willingness for spatial mobility to support national and international collaborations.
