MoCA with Prof. Dr. Christine von Arnim
On Friday, 20th June 2025 our Principal Investigator Prof. Dr. Christine von Arnim (RP8) gave our new students of the 2nd cohort an insight into the patient ward instead of a regular lecture as part of the RTG2824 Lecture “Aging with Heart & Brain” as already in 2023 with the 1st cohort.
The group was in the patient ward and conducted a cognitive assessment. The students had a visit to the clinic ward where they conducted a Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) on a patient who was admitted after a fall. They talked about this screening tool to detect mild cognitive impairment. Prof. von Arnim guided the students through the process and provided detailed explanation on each section of the questionnaire. Finally they discussed in which category (e.g. attention, memory, calculation, execution) the patient shows deficits. In addition, the student could also saw patient’s brain scans.
